One
Step Ahead create web sites that get results
!

You'll have seen them... they either arrive by S P A M emails or you'll
have seen the web sites. Some offer automated
software that will get your web site to Number
One on Google and about 9.7 million other search engines. Rubbish! There
are fewer than a dozen search engines that you need worry about. Anyone
who tells you he's going to submit your site to 99 trillion search engines
is.... well, not an SEO expert! Others claim to know it all with pages
and pages of drivel that no intelligent human being can understand.
Beware also of the 'innovative new multiple linking technologies'!
These can seriously harm your web site placement. Search
engines are getting smarter and smarter every day. Whilst these so-called
revolutionary linking schemes may have been acceptable a few years ago,
they are now more likely to harm your web site ranking then enhance
it. Be careful!
Of course, linking is important. It's what we call 'off-the-page optimisation'.
On-the-page optimisation being the content of your web pages, the META
tags, the ALT tags, the quality of the copy writing and authoring and
the depth of content. Search engines like to see what they call 'natural'
or 'organic' linking methodologies. This is much harder than simply
signing up to some link farm junk scheme but it is well worth the time
and effort. Try and cultivate links from other web sites that have similar
content or ones that carry a similar theme. It's better to have fewer,
better quality links than 100's of spammed links from spurious schemes!
Neither is there anything that comes in a box that will optimise your
web site properly and without risk of getting you blacklisted.
There are some good products out there - but there's no 'quick
fix'. If you want to get a top ranking on the big search engines, you
have 2 choices in our view:-
- learn how to do it properly and commit to it,
or
- pay someone who knows what they're talking about.
We do know what we're talking about and we're
passionate about No. 1 listings!
